Spreading Power of Vision - Free of cost Titan Eyeglasses distributed to Children
I am happy to share these images with you where we could be the reason for putting a smile on the faces of children who needed the power of vision. It was a pleasure to handover powered spectacles to children who were diagnosed with vision problems during ‘Free eye health check-up’ camp held on 10th Feb 2019.
The moment we received these glasses from Titan eye facility, we rushed back for the free distribution of the same to the needy children. These vision correction glasses will finally allow these children to have a normal life after so many years of hardship and also aid them to reach their utmost potential.
All this has been only possible due to the support we have received from the donors who made this camp possible. We can’t thank them enough; their generous donation has helped to change the life of so many children. However, it should not stop here. This is just the beginning, so let's hold each other’s hand and take this to another level.
Please request your neighbors, friends, family, and colleagues to join us in supporting this noble cause, so that we can bring this change to many other lives too. Donations need to continue for conducting more such camps in the future. Even a small donation of Rs 1000 would empower at least one child with the Power of Vision.
Mission Vision aims to improve the lives of children by enhancing their eyesight but more importantly, by gifting them with the Power of Vision. I truly believe it is this vision that will enable them to see beneath the surface, beyond horizons and energize new hopes for a brighter future. Mission Vision's goal is to facilitate refractive error screening services for underprivileged children, thereby improving visual impairment, by providing them free-of-cost spectacles. We will continue to hold more such camps in the near future.
I, therefore, request you to continue your support for this cause and spread the word to donate generously at:

A Heartfelt Thank You to all the Donors and Associates from Mission Vision for supporting first Free Eye Health Check-up camp.
I truly appreciate your thoughtful contribution to Mission Vision. With your support Mission Vision could organize a free eye checkup and spectacles distribution camp on 10 February 2019 at Government Lower Primary School, Kacharakanahalli, Bangalore-560084 in association with Child Rights and You (CRY), Ananya Education and Empower Trust and Titan Eye Plus.
This event was organized in an effort to establish eye care as an important health aspect and extend a helping hand to those who direly require help. The camp was inaugurated by Dr. Antony Sebastian (Chairperson, Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Bangalore) and presided over by me (Ms. Aanya Aurora, Founder, Mission Vision). Mr. Y Mariswami, Former Chairperson & Member, Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Bangalore & Dr. John Roberts, General Manager (Programmes) CRY, South India were also present as chief guests in the camp.
This was a free-of-cost eye check-up camp aided by Titan eye plus specialists using refractive error screening equipment. In this camp, Mission Vision team examined approximately 800 underprivileged children and adults. Many of the children and adults were diagnosed with poor vision problem. You can also view the images of the camp on the link http://www.missionvision.in/gallery.php
Mission Vision will be providing free of cost spectacles developed by Titan eye to the children identified with poor vision on 23rd of February at the same venue of the camp.

Mission Vision First Free Eye Health Checkup Camp in association with CRY (Child Rights and You) and Ananya Education & Empowerment Trust
One thing I strongly believe in is that when you selflessly work towards a noble cause, support for the same comes providentially. Once I was introduced by our family ophthalmologist to CRY (Child Rights and You), I discussed possibilities of conducting a free eye health check-up camp with them. They agreed to support me. Then we approached Titan Eye and they too agreed to be associated by providing eye-testing equipment and their staff. So now, with help of our Ophthalmologist, CRY and Titan Eye, we are arranging a fully equipped eye health check-up camp for underprivileged children.
CRY will be helping us to reach out to the maximum number of needy children in association with Ananya Education & Empowerment Trust. They will be spreading the news through pamphlet distribution, banners, and brochures bringing information and awareness of the camp to the maximum number of homes in the surrounding areas. We are expecting a good turnout for our first camp as per our preliminary survey. This first eye check-up camp will be conducted on 10th Feb 2019 at:
Government Lower Primary School,
Near Kodanda Rama Temple,
80 Ft Road, Kacharkanahalli,
Bangalore- 560084
It is an open walk-in camp for children. Anyone can bring their children for free testing and screening of their vision capabilities. Children who have been detected with vision problems will be provided with a prescription for glasses. On the basis of such prescriptions, free spectacles developed by Titan Eye would be provided to the children after 15 days from the date of the camp. All expenses for check-up and spectacle development till delivery of the same to needy children will be borne by Mission Vision. No money will be charged to the children attending the camp.
To make this project successful we need to keep raising money. A contribution of Rs 1000 can provide the Power of Vision to One Child. You can donate any amount in multiples of Rs. 1000 as per your wish and for each donation you will receive an 80G certificate along with a receipt for the donation. Your name will also be reflected on our website indicating your support. Therefore, please donate generously. You can donate:

Mission Vision First Free Eye Health Check-up Camp for Underprivileged Children
Last weekend I went with my grandmother to our family ophthalmologist for an annual eye health check-up. I was keenly observing the process and equipment being used for the same. There were about four different machines that were used in the evaluation process and the whole thing looked to be a long-drawn tedious process. The ophthalmologist noticed my interest and struck up a conversation querying my keen interest in the check-up process, which turned out to be a great opportunity for me to introduce the doctor to ‘Mission Vision’.
To my surprise the doctor turned out to be very supportive and encouraging towards the cause. He explained to me how free eye check-up camps were conducted at hospitals he attended and gave me valuable insights about:
1. Experts involved in examination such as Ophthalmologists (Eye doctor), Optometrists (Tech person operating the intricate equipment) and Opticians (who dispenses spectacles).
2. Process for testing which involves steps like Patient registration, Preliminary vision examination (physical check-up, chart reading, refractive error screening etc.), Final examination by Ophthalmologist, counselling and optical correction service.
3. Different devices used for detecting vision impairment like the Auto-refractometer, Retinoscope, Ophthalmoscope or Funduscope, Snellen Chart reading etc.
It helped me understand and appreciate the technicalities involved behind vision correction and saving someone from becoming blind if not treated on time. The doctor also helped me to set up my first free eye health check-up camp by introducing me to a renowned NGO working to better the lot of underprivileged children community in India – CRY (Child Rights and You).
In my next blog, I will take you through my journey of setting up Mission Vision’s first free eye health camp. So stay tuned.
